FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is MapleKids?
At mapleKids we create an individualized Story Studio. Each of our books are created with your child in mind. We take your child's experiences, feelings and struggles and turn them into a custom storybook about them. This allows your child to see themselves as the hero, learn from their experiences, be supported by stories and most importantly feel understood.
How is a MapleKids story different from other personalized books?
The actual emotional or development challenges in their lives

Their families' cultural & value systems

That is what will make this story feel like a very personal and emotionally moving experience to them rather than some generic thing.
What information do I need to provide?

In order to create the most compelling possible story, we are going to ask for the following:

Emotions Behind That Challenge

You Hope Your Child Will Learn Or Feel In This Story
Do I have to upload photos?

If you do decide not to use pictures, we'll still have an entirely customized story complete with pictures and descriptive storytelling.

Are MapleKids stories therapeutic?

MapleKids is an emotionally supportive experience but it's not a replacement for professional therapy.

How should I read the story with my child?
Some suggestions to help you achieve repetition include:

Hearing it together at a relaxed time as well as when your child has been able to process their feelings regarding the content of the story;

Telling the same story multiple times during the course of several days or weeks;

Allowing your child to have control of directing conversation or asking questions in regard to the topic of the story.

The more often stories are repeated, the better children will understand and become confident in processing their feelings.
